Five Islands Park
Five Islands Park is located in the southern portion of New Rochelle. Set literally on 5 small islands and connected by short walking bridges, Five Islands Park is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or even an entire day.
Upon driving into the parking lot park goers cannot help but notice the large playground for kids. The city of New Rochelle recently renovated the playground and now there is brand new, safe, equipment for kids of all ages to play on.
Elsewhere in the park, there is a softball field as well as a football field. These fields are not reserved by local teams which means they are available to park goers on a first come first serve basis. When people are not playing sports here, these fields are often full of kite fliers who take full advantage of the open space and breeze that comes off of Long Island Sound.
Additionally, there are charcoal grills scattered all over the park along with picnic tables for familys and groups to have barbecues. If you are interested in having a larger party than what a picnic table can accommodate, then you're in luck.
Five Islands Park has 2 different pagodas that can reserved ahead of time for large outdoor parties. Both have amazing views of the Long Island Sound and offer a large roofed area that can much needed on those really hot summer days or if rain decides to spoil you're party.
Finally, when you go to Five Islands Park you will almost certainly see at least one person with a fishing rod in their hands. This is because the water that surrounds the island is full of fish and it makes the park a hidden gem for fishing lovers.
